A lots has been written about the 'Showrooming' trend in retail - whereby consumers use
stores to experience products before buying them online/via mobile.
Well,
car-manufacturer Audi has taken this principle to launch showrooms without
cars. It has built a new digital showroom in London's Piccadilly Circus where
shoppers can visit and use a touchscreen to choose from thousands of car
customisation options.
They can choose a car and see what it will look like
on a big screen with all the personal customisations. Customers are also
given samples to feel the textures of the interiors they have chosen. Audi
plans to open 20 more of these digital stores by 2015.
